I loved this resort! The family that owns it are so nice. The spots are few but clean. The bathrooms and shower are clean. The beach is groomed and the equipment is well maintained. Each site comes with water and electricity. The area is peaceful and quiet. All the other campers were extremely kind...I felt like I was camping with family. Love this place will go back again!

My hubby and I rented the cute little Birch cabin for four nights. We had the best time exploring the Gunflint trail. the cabin was cozy and clean. We had the best view of Poplar lake and plenty of privacy. We even made friends with Kirby the Kamp dog who lives on-site. We will be back soon.

Campsites were beautiful. It had all the equipment we needed to venture out on the lake. Kids loved the playground and beach. Staff was very friendly and recommended great hikes.

Stayed at Nor'Wester this past Sunday-Wednesday and booked our next trip there as we left! The grounds were well taken care of and lots of things to do even though the lodge was closed due to COVID, as well as lots of space to lounge and take in the view. It was super windy the first two days there, but it didn't make it any less enjoyable. When we did see staff, they were always so pleasant and helpful. One staffer we saw a lot of and really enjoyed was Kirby, the resident black lab. He welcomed himself into our camper a couple times, enjoyed treats, played with our lab, and showed us around. He was a part of the family for those days and my camera reel shows that. We loved that it was nestled into the woods and close to trails, but also near Trail Center Lodge to grab breakfast/lunch/supper at. We cannot wait to come back and hopefully, to be able to hang out in the lodge. As well as see how big Kirby has gotten.

Awesome snowmobile destination Some friends and I stayed here and had a great time. plenty of room to hang snowmobile gear after riding and having 2 bathrooms was very nice. The area is very remote but there are plenty of places to get fuel and food. The owners of the resort are very nice and I really enjoyed my stay at the Nor’Wester

We had good time up there! Everyone was friendly and helpful. I will be going back up there again. Basil the dog came every morning to see what was going on. Beach was very nice and it was nice at night to just go sit on the dock and watch the meteorite showers.

THE spot to get away from it all So this was our first trip to the Gunflint Trail and it was a completely different experience than our annual up north colors trip. First of all, the area is hurting - like the rest of the BWCA - for your tourism dollars due to the fires. Consider supporting the community this year when traveling?

The cabins are basic but comfortable. We were 2 couples/2 dogs who rented the Ash Cabin that had a dining table/picture window/deck overlooking Poplar Lake, along with a fire pit and our own private dock. And the shower felt luxurious - 2 heads and great pressure! The property is actually larger than I'd expected... great beach/play areas for the families. But it was nice and quiet while there... the only raucous behavior was all the visiting pups getting acquainted with Kirby the lodge dog. He is simply adorable and hilarious, living his best life!

We did have an issue with no heat, but the hosts provided firewood for the stove and it was warm in no time! My husband loved being able to awake before dawn and hit the lake kayak fishing... I enjoyed the blackout curtains and catching up on sleep. And the weather was so mild we rented the property's pontoon and spent the day in shorts exploring the lake!

Another lovely feature besides no cell/internet except in the lodge office was that we were close to Poplar Haus, and we really wanted to visit the restaurant!

Our only disappointment was that we saw almost no wildlife, even when we went to the end of the road :0( We did see otters and mergansers on the lake, that was it. Get away from it all here and get used to peace and quiet again!

The owner shows so much hospitality each time we come. This year she gave me her boots when I forgot mine and I was able to go on a 200 mile snowmobile trip because she was so kind to me. Its a great place to stay at because of the rooms, amount of people it can sleep, a bathroom on both levels, and full kitchen. Because its such a great place to stay we've stayed their 3 years and its become apart of our families yearly trip.
